The American Section of Société de Chimie Industrielle
The American Section of the Société de Chimie Industrielle was founded in 1918 in New York and actively supports the mission of the parent organization. Today, the Section is involved in a number of non-profit activities: sponsoring a noted monthly meeting program, open to nonmembers, at which prominent CEOs, government leaders and scientists share their views on important industry developments; granting fellowships and scholarships to students pursuing the study of chemistry; honoring individuals who have contributed significantly to the industry; and providing a variety of other services to individuals and companies in the industry.

The Société
The Société de Chimie Industrielle is a French organization founded in Paris in 1917. Over the years, it has devoted its efforts to the improvement and development of the chemical industry and has become a truly international organization in both outlook and operations. Early close ties were established between the Société and the Society of Chemical Industry in England, and together in 1920 they founded the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) in London. The original mission of the Société was to aid and encourage the utilization of scientific and engineering developments by the industry, promotion of chemistry in public opinion, especially among the young and in the education system. This remains its primary mission.

Technological trends present in the Chemical Industry are debated during technical conventions and prestigious events, organized since 1926 by the Société for its members. These activities offer the opportunity and the environment to foster better mutual understanding among worldwide leaders in science, engineering, industry government and education. The Société is also an active participant of international organizations, such as the European Federation of Biotechnology, the European Federation of Corrosion, and the European Federation of Chemical Engineering.
