Private equity firms have been very active buyers and sellers of chemical companies since 1998. H.I.G. has been very active in the industry, with nine transactions just in the last six years alone. The firm is a leading global private equity investment firm with $21 billion of equity capital under management. Peter Young, President of Young & Partners, the chemicals and life science investment bank and of Société de Chimie Industrielle, will interview Keval Patel, who leads the chemical industry efforts of his firm, and will delve into the H.I.G.’s track record, investing philosophy, and perspectives on the industry. Keval will go through a few case studies to illustrate how they have approached chemical deals and what he feels is unique about the industry from the private equity point of view.
About our Speaker:
Keval Patel is a Managing Director in H.I.G. Capital's Miami office. Keval is responsible for all aspects of the investment process including sourcing, transaction structuring, financing, and execution of post-closing growth and operational strategies. He has more than fourteen years of experience in middle market private equity and has led investments across a wide range of industries including chemicals, industrials, building products, technology, and business services. Keval currently serves on the boards of several H.I.G. portfolio companies including Cornerstone Chemical Company, ACG Materials, Valtris Specialty Chemicals, Symplicity and Dominion Colour. Keval’s prior investments include Stream Global Services, Vantage Specialty Chemicals and Infogix.
Prior to joining H.I.G. in 2007, Keval worked for Graham Partners, a middle market private equity firm based in suburban Philadelphia focused on manufacturing, building products and packaging businesses. Prior to Graham, Keval also worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup. Keval received his Bachelors of Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
