This discussion group is a companion event to the April 7 Société de Chimie Industrielle panel webcast on the same topic that featured two executives from leading logistics and supply chain companies.
The chemical and life sciences industries are suffering a crisis today with regard to their supply chains and logistics. Everyday there are reports of shortages of containers, ships that are waiting off coastlines trying to depart or land, soaring transportation costs, and serious delays in the delivery of critical raw materials and finished goods. Companies are resorting to shipping by air at considerable cost when no other alternatives are available.
This is a problem that affects a vast portion of the global economy. Although some of the factors that are driving the crisis are clearly related to the Covid-19 pandemic, many are not and may linger on well past the end of the pandemic.
This event is part of a Société sponsored series of discussion groups on topics that are of importance to those who are involved in the chemical and life science industries. The concept is to have a virtual gathering of both people who are familiar with the topic and want to share ideas and people who want to learn. We will put those who register into individual discussion rooms of no more than 15, led by a knowledgeable discussion facilitator who will guide the one hour discussion. No speakers, just a sharing of ideas and experiences.
Registration will be first come, first serve with the only limit being the number of discussion rooms that we will be able to support. We will operate using Chatham House rules, i.e. you can tell someone else about things you learn, but you cannot quote the person who said it. This common rule is used so that the attendees will not feel inhibited with regards to their comments.
